Girls Rock IT Coding for Good

Inviting Girl Scouts (Juniors, Cadettes and Seniors) and non-Girl Scouts in 4th – 10th grade to explore the world of gaming and/or app development through code!
Junior Coding for Good session (3 badges)
Junior Girl Scouts and non-Girl Scouts in grades 4th–5th will create a game using Scratch programming. Participants who would like to access their game after the event will need to create a Scratch account before attending the session.
Cadette and Senior Coding for Good session (3 badges)
Cadette Girl Scouts and non-Girl Scouts in grades 6th–8th will learn the basics of app development and create their own app using MIT App Inventor.
Senior Girl Scouts and non-Girl Scouts in grades 9th–10th will also create an app using MIT App Inventor while developing their coding and problem-solving skills.
Participants will need access to a personal Gmail account to create their app in MIT App Inventor. School-issued Gmail accounts may not work. Please make sure the Gmail account is set up before attending the session.
All students will learn about important female computer scientists and how to use computers to solve problems that help people progress in life.
Note: All participants will learn about important women in computer science and explore how computers and technology can be used to solve problems and make a positive impact in people’s lives.
The participation fee is $15 per student. Please note that, due to processing fees, registration fees are non-refundable.
A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided
