SOUTHFIELD, August 1, 2024 – The Michigan Council of Women in Technology Foundation (MCWT) is excited to announce it has been awarded a grant of $500,000 in funding for 2025, with $250,000 dedicated to K-12 programming and $250,000 allocated for the Reignite! program. This generous support will significantly enhance our programming, resources, and opportunities for women and girls across the state.
MCWT’s K-12 programming aims to inspire and educate young girls in technology through workshops, mentorship, and hands-on projects. These programs are designed to spark interest in STEM fields and provide the foundational skills necessary for future success.
The Reignite! program focuses on helping women re-enter the tech workforce after a career break. Through specialized training, professional development, and networking opportunities, Reignite! empowers women to update their skills and confidently transition into technology roles.
“We’d like to thank one of MCWT’s founders, Senator Rosemary Bayer, for her unwavering support and continued visionary leadership. Her advocacy has been instrumental in securing this funding, and we appreciate the commitment of the state in helping us inspire and grow girls and women in Michigan,” said Dr. Orletta Caldwell, MCWT’s executive director. “With this funding, MCWT is furthering our mission, fostering a stronger, more inclusive tech community across the state.”
