Bhavani Koneru serves as the Chief Information Officer at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, where she leads innovative technology strategies that enable academic excellence, drive operational efficiency, and enhance student success. A seasoned leader with over 25 years of experience, Bhavani is widely recognized as a trusted advisor and mentor, known for her expertise in steering enterprise-wide transformations, managing organizational change, and cultivating high-performing teams that consistently deliver exceptional results. She holds an MS in Computer Science from Wayne State University, an MBA from Walsh College, and a bachelor’s degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in India. Her leadership is distinguished by a commitment to stakeholder engagement, collaboration, and alignment of technology initiatives with organizational goals.

Dedicated to advancing the next generation of technology leaders, Bhavani is an ardent mentor who actively contributes her expertise to professional and nonprofit organizations. She serves on the board of Merit Network Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to advancing networking and technology solutions, and is an active member of prominent professional organizations, including InspireCIO, the Michigan Women Leaders Network (MWLN), the Michigan Council for Women in Technology (MCWT), and the Society for Information Management (SIM). Through these roles, Bhavani fosters collaboration, champions innovation, and promotes diversity and inclusion in technology leadership.

Since migrating to the United States in early 1990s, Bhavani has also been a prominent figure in the Indian community, alongside her husband, Srinivas, a founding trustee of the Hindu Temple in Novi, Michigan. Together, they have cultivated strong cultural ties and contributed to meaningful community engagement while raising their two daughters, Nandini and Anjani.
