The Michigan Council of Women in Technology Foundation announces a series of grants available to all-girl robotics teams. These $500 grants are available to girls in grades 5 – 12 who plan to compete in Lawrence Technological University’s Robofest event.
Robofest‘s mission is to generate excitement & interest among young people for STEM, while developing skills such as teamwork, leadership, creativity, communication and problem solving, and preparing them to excel in higher education and technological careers.
MCWT and its partners know the importance of supporting young girls who are interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, by providing opportunities for them to learn and engage with technology. Girls participating in Robofest have the opportunity to be creative and showcase their skills.
The competition has several elements including:
– Using fully autonomous robots to accomplish a “mission”
– Developing and participating in a robot parade
– Exhibiting skills during “mission impossible” challenges
