Michigan Council of Women in Technology Foundation
Dear MCWT Stakeholders,
Happy International Women’s Day! Today, we celebrate the incredible impact and value that women bring to Michigan and beyond. Your dedication and involvement in MCWT’s mission mark just the beginning of the positive changes we can make for the next generation of women in tech.
We’re thrilled to share some exciting highlights of how MCWT is honoring International Women’s Day (IWD) this Women’s History Month:
MCWT’s very own Heidi Musser and Lara Lane kicked off and closed Wednesday’s event. The highlight was a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Orletta Caldwell, MCWT Executive Director, featuring Courtney Ventrone and Susan Boyd on the topic of “Reach Out and Raise Up.” This initiative encourages women and allies to proactively connect with coworkers, addressing issues like work-life balance, career growth, and supporting one another.
MCWT proudly supported this event by providing members to speak on behalf of DTMB State of Michigan. Special thanks to Amy Krause, B for coordinating speaker logistics through our Women in Tech (WIT) Podium program, and to DTMB State of Michigan for inviting us to be part of this impactful occasion.
Yesterday, we were honored to participate in Slalom’s IWD celebration as a community partner. This fantastic event brought together a diverse group of women and men dedicated to promoting inclusion. MCWT’s very own President, Grace Hansen, delivered a remarkable keynote speech emphasizing the importance of pursuing your passions and ensuring your career aligns with your goals, much like finding the perfect pair of shoes. Heidi Mattison also participated in an insightful panel discussion on her personal journey of navigating through inclusive environments.
A big thank you to Slalom for inviting MCWT to inspire inclusion, and to everyone who joined us to support, learn, and grow.
We’re thrilled to invite all women in tech and entrepreneurship to join us for our inaugural International Women’s Day celebration at Bamboo, Royal Oak, next Friday! This event is dedicated to empowering women in both corporate and startup tech environments, bridging the gap, and fostering inclusion in innovation. The day will feature meals, breakout sessions, raffles, exclusive one-on-one sessions with venture capitalists, and a complimentary professional headshot.
Special Guest Speaker Reveal: Lt. Governor Gilchrist will be making a guest appearance to share some encouraging words with our guests on inspiring inclusion in Michigan.
