GET-IT Day: Young Girls Embrace Technology through Interactive Field Trip

SOUTHFIELD, MICH., May 25, 2023 – Hundreds of girls in grades 4-8 grew their interest in technology with a field trip tailored uniquely for them. The Michigan Council of Women in Technology (MCWT) Girls GET-IT Day offered an immersive platform to explore the latest technologies and tech concepts through interactive, hands-on activities. 

GET-IT Day aims to bridge the gender gap in the tech industry by introducing young girls to the wonders of technology and inspiring them to pursue careers in tech fields. During this captivating experience, 370 participants discovered cutting-edge technologies, dove into innovative concepts, and gained valuable insights.  

“GET-IT Day is an exceptional opportunity for young girls to explore the world of technology in a hands-on, interactive environment,” said Tammy Doroshewitz, MCWT Program Director. “By engaging with the latest advancements and learning from industry professionals, we hope to ignite a passion for technology and inspire the next generation of female leaders in tech.” 

By demonstrating diverse possibilities in technology, MCWT instills confidence, curiosity and a sense of empowerment, ensuring a brighter and more inclusive future for the tech industry.  Grace Hansen, MCWT Vice President, inspired the girls to nurture their curiosity during the day’s events, “Technology offers an incredible world of opportunities for curious minds.  Curiosity is your superpower, and with it, you can create amazing things and make a difference in the world.”
