MCWT’s 16th Annual Signature Gala Raises $513,550 to Advance Women in Technology

SOUTHFIELD, Nov. 19, 2024 – The Michigan Council of Women in Technology Foundation (MCWT) hosted its 16th Annual Signature Gala on Nov. 9 at the MGM Grand Detroit, bringing together more than 750 tech professionals, corporate partners, and supporters. This year’s event, supported by Host Sponsor Stryker, raised an impressive $513,550 to further the organization’s mission of inspiring and advancing women in technology across Michigan.

Proceeds from the event will fund scholarships, mentoring programs, and educational initiatives designed to empower women and girls to thrive in the tech industry. “Empowering women in technology doesn’t just transform careers—it strengthens communities,” said Grace Hansen, MCWT president. “The generosity we’ve seen from our supporters will help us expand our programs and create even more opportunities for women at every stage of their tech journey, from students to established professionals.”

Throughout 2024, MCWT demonstrated notable growth and impact, awarding $171,500 in scholarships to 31 students, reintroducing its biennial MICWIC conference for college women in tech, and growing its Women TechPreneurs initiative to strengthen women in tech and entrepreneurship across the state of Michigan.

The gala highlighted the powerful impact of MCWT’s programs through testimonials from those directly benefiting from the foundation’s support. Rehab Jadallah, a scholarship recipient and student at the University of Michigan, shared how her journey into technology was shaped by her grandfather’s encouragement to defy societal norms.

“My grandfather always believed I could make a difference in tech, even in a field dominated by men,” said Jadallah. “With the support of MCWT, and my mentor Victoria Jackson—a Senior Technology Leader at Comerica Bank—I’ve been able to push my limits, gain invaluable guidance, and find a community that truly believes in me. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities I’ve had, and I’m excited to give back by helping other young women break through the barriers in this industry.”

The evening’s success was also made possible through the generous support of over 50 sponsors,  whose commitment to diversity and inclusion underscores the importance of women’s representation in the tech field.
