SOUTHFIELD, Feb. 21, 2023 – The 2022-2023 MCWT GET-IT Cyber Challenge has provided high school girls with a unique opportunity to grow in their understanding of the technologies, processes and practices designed to protect data from attack, damage or unauthorized access. This free 11-week, self-paced virtual program developed participants’ skills and increased their knowledge in the field of cyber security.
The Cyber Challenge, held in partnership with Immersive Labs, a platform of interactive cyber skill experiences, has enabled the girls to gain practical and hands-on experience in a variety of cyber security areas. The students used the Immersive Labs platform to learn about topics such as cryptography, network security, ethical hacking and more.
The challenge concluded with an in-person finals competition at the University of Michigan – Dearborn, where participants showcased their skills and competed in a friendly and supportive environment. The finals event brought together the brightest young minds in the field of cyber security and was a testament to the hard work and dedication of the students involved.
“We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with Immersive Labs to bring this new GET-IT Cyber Challenge to life,” said Tammy Doroshewitz, MCWT director of programming. “This program has provided young women in Michigan with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in the world of cyber security, and we are excited to see what they will achieve in the future.”
