Michigan Council of Women in Technology Foundation
SOUTHFIELD, MI, Nov. 3, 2025 – The Michigan Council of Women in Technology Foundation hosted its 17th annual signature gala on Nov. 1 at the MGM Grand Detroit, bringing together 700 tech professionals and corporate partners. Dubbed the Celestial Ball, the evening supported by host sponsor Borg Warner raised $355,500 in gross funds to further the nonprofit’s mission of inspiring and growing women in tech.
“The gala was full of energy, purpose, and passion for technology,” said MCWT Executive Director Lori Koza. “People came because of their belief in MCWT’s vision to make Michigan the No. 1 state for women in tech.
“If you’ve been part of this community, you’ve seen our mission in action. It’s watching a middle school girl at our tech camp light up as she realizes she has a gift for coding; hearing how high school girls in our GET-IT clubs discover their confidence and belonging through tech; enabling college women to receive scholarships that make a tech degree possible; and connecting with women in their careers as they grow, lead and mentor others – completing a full circle of empowerment. This is more than a network – it’s a movement.”
Throughout 2024, MCWT demonstrated notable impact, awarding $171,500 in scholarships to 49 female students committed to pursuing tech careers in Michigan. Since 2002, we have awarded 409 scholarships, totaling $2,070,055, to deserving women pursuing technology-focused degrees.
MCWT hosts several career path initiatives for women. The Reignite program supports women returning to the workforce or transitioning into tech, offering growth opportunities in an evolving industry. With high demand for diverse talent, it provides a chance to launch a dynamic new career path. The Elevate-Level Up is a 6th month program that supports women returning to the workforce or transitioning into tech, offering growth opportunities in an evolving industry. With high demand for diverse talent, it provides a chance to launch a dynamic new career path. Nearly 50 women are currently participating in the ongoing programs.
The evening’s success was made possible through the support of 57 sponsors including our host sponsor, Borg Warner, and empowerment sponsors, Ahead, Comerica Bank, Dell, Masco, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Zscaler.
“We are here to illuminate a path forward for women in technology,” said MCWT President Judy Asher. “Our Woman of the Year recipients, partners, volunteers, board members and supporters are creating connections and guiding girls and women toward tech careers that make a difference.”
