Michigan Council of Women in Technology Accepting Applications for 2024 Reignite! Program

MCWT Foundation’s Initiative Aims to Transition Women into Michigan Tech Careers

SOUTHFIELD, June 25, 2024 — The Michigan Council of Women in Technology (MCWT) Foundation is excited to announce that applications are open for the 2024 Reignite! program. This innovative initiative is designed to support women returning to the workforce and those seeking to transition into tech careers. The program aims to retain tech talent in Michigan by providing women with the necessary resources, community, and skills to thrive in the tech industry.

MCWT Executive Director Dr. Orletta Caldwell expressed her enthusiasm for the program: “Reignite! represents a pivotal step in our mission to inspire and grow women in technology. By offering comprehensive support and training, we are not only helping women transition into tech but also ensuring they have the tools to excel and lead in Michigan’s tech sector.”

Participants in the Reignite! program will benefit from a range of resources, including:

  • Customized training sessions to update and enhance tech skills
  • Networking opportunities with industry professionals
  • Mentorship from experienced tech leaders
  • Access to a supportive community of like-minded women

The Reignite! program, which debuted as a successful pilot last year, will be spearheaded once again by the program coordinator who played a key role in its initial success. “We saw incredible transformations during the pilot program, with 40 participants gaining confidence, 25 completing the program, and five women securing impactful roles in tech that same year. This year, we are building on that success to create even more opportunities for women to shine,” said Lisa Riachi.

Given that the program design is focused on career development, participants are expected to commit to the full three-month program and be present for both in-person and virtual learning and group check-ins. This commitment will ensure participants receive maximum benefit from the program.

“We believe that by investing in the professional development of women, we can drive innovation and growth within Michigan’s tech industry,” added Dr. Caldwell. “The Reignite! program is an essential part of our commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive tech workforce.”

Women interested in joining the Reignite! program are encouraged to visit the MCWT website for more information and to apply. The application deadline is Friday, July 12. Together, we can reignite their careers in tech and contribute to the dynamic future of Michigan’s technology landscape.
