MCWT to Recognize Women Leaders in Tech Making an Impact

Woman of the Year in Technology Award presented at nonprofit’s 11th Executive Connection Summit

SOUTHFIELD, MICH., Jan. 30, 2024 – The Michigan Council of Women in Technology Foundation is seeking nominations until March 1 for its eighth Woman of the Year in Technology Award. The recognition celebrates women making an impact in the field of technology for girls and women in Michigan.

To qualify, the nominee must be a woman in Michigan who embodies MCWT’s mission of inspiring and growing women in technology. This individual will be honored for her leadership and drive in promoting and advancing opportunities for girls and women in technology careers or fields of study.

New to the competition this year are expanded categories enabling MCWT to widen the spotlight and create visibility for changemakers in a variety of sectors and disciplines, such as:

  • Education
  • Emerging Leader
  • Community Impact
  • Women Empowerment

“Tech is everywhere and so many women are leveraging it to transform industries and improve lives,” said Dr. Orletta Caldwell, MCWT executive director. “They are supporting our economy and communities while lifting up other women along the way. This year we set out to shine a light on those paving a path for greater representation.”

MCWT’s 2023 Woman of the Year in Technology was Jane Sydlowski, founder and CEO of AMI Strategies, a tech company driving innovation in vendor invoice and asset automation. Sydlowski has enabled more women to rise to leadership positions, with her peers calling her the ultimate connector, sponsor, supporter, friend and mentor.

Recipients do not need to be members of MCWT to win. Nomination forms are available on the nonprofit’s website. All submissions must be emailed to [email protected] by March 1. There is no fee to submit. Nominations may be made by the nominee or by someone else on their behalf.

MCWT will present the award at its Executive Connection Summit on May 14. The event brings together tech leaders and business professionals to explore thought-provoking topics and provide learning for professional growth.
